2015 Minecraft Competition – Valdemar Enemark

16 year-old Valdemar from Denmark, created this incredible custom satellite design, with the help of his friend Asger.

Valdemar said about his project:

“While designing the Satellite, my main focus has been arranging the placement of solar panels. If you look at the diagram , you’ll see that the top solar panels are shaped like a half sphere, this is supposed to make it possible to catch sunlight from as many angles as possible. Furthermore, the top panels are meant to be able to move up and down, depending on the position of the sun.”

Other features of his design include the downlink dish antenna, radar and base-mounted camera.

We were really impressed by the scale of Valdemar’s project, as well as the image compositing skills he put to good use placing the satellite high above real photographs of the Earth’s surface.

Valedmar’s entry was runner-up in the 2015 competition’s 13-16 custom satellite design category.

Wow, nice satellite :) I really like your solar panel "dome" on top of it, it almost looks like a shield :D

Thank you Julo! I think i ended up with a pretty cool spaceship look, although it wasn't my intention. I might have gotten a bit inspiration from robocraft too :-)
